Unique Underwater Art Exhibition “Underwater Journey Continues” Opens in Rummu, Estonia on June 20

The underwater art exhibition “Underwater Journey Continues” will open in Rummu, Estonia. The exhibition will be open to all visitors from June 20 until October 11, 2026.

The exhibition brings together Lauri Haavel’s graphic art and the underwater photography of Ants Stern and Valdur Maibach, creating a unique journey where reality, history, nature, and imagination meet.

The exhibition combines two distinct yet complementary worlds. Lauri Haavel’s graphic works explore the connections between humans, nature, and imagination, where symbols, mythical creatures, and organic forms intertwine into a unified whole. Ants Stern’s and Valdur Maibach’s underwater photographs take visitors to places that truly exist – submerged structures, shipwrecks, beneath the ice, and among coral reefs.

The exhibition is accessible both to certified divers and to those discovering the underwater world for the first time. Visitors can explore the exhibition through introductory try dives. In addition, guided snorkeling tours will be organized, allowing visitors to experience the exhibition from the surface.

Introductory Dive Experience

If you’re interested in starting diving, a very safe and excellent way to do so is with our instructors. The introductory dive program is designed for those curious about diving and wanting to try it out themselves.

This experience is suitable from the age of 12 and does not require participants to be strong swimmers or to have prior diving experience. The key requirement is good health. Initially, there is a brief training session (up to 1 hour) where participants are introduced to the basic rules of diving, equipment, hand signals, safety rules, and swimming techniques. This is followed by a personal dive in the world-famous Rummu “Underwater Prison” area. During the dive, the most interesting spots of this diving area are visited, an underwater forest is explored, and exciting surprise objects are not missed. After the dive, participants can use the snorkeling equipment.

Price: €80 per person (Theory, equipment, 1 dive, Rummu Quarry day pass) Important: registration in advance required!

For our Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday dives, the use of the Finnish sauna is included in the price for divers!

Dives are scheduled:
Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Sundays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

These times don’t work for you? For groups of 4 or more, we can offer special times.

Dives for Certified Divers

If you’ve completed a diving course and have a diving certificate, Rummu quarry is a place you must visit at least once a year to keep your skills fresh and your dive card active. We organize weekly dives for certified divers, open water dives for those whose courses are incomplete, and full OWD courses. This summer, we are also offering AOWD and Rescue Diver courses.

Rummu Diving is located at the former quarry site, now Rummu QUARRY, right in front of the world-famous “Rummu Underwater Prison” dive site. Additionally, you can dive to “The Pump House,” “The Shelters,” and other spots in Rummu Lake on a raft equipped with an electric motor.

Important: Registration in advance is required!

When registering, please let us know your equipment needs. To select the right gear, we need the participant’s height, weight, and shoe size.

Our Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday dives include the use of the Finnish sauna for divers!

Dives are scheduled:
Thursdays from 17:00 to 21:00
Saturdays from 10:30 to 15:00
Sundays from 10:30 to 15:00

If you and a companion wish to dive on your own, this can also be arranged during our opening hours, except when our center is booked for a group. In July and August, we are open daily, weather permitting.

SUP and Canoe trips

SUP and Canoe Trips at Rummu Lake with a Visit to “Tuhamäe”:

The SUP trip takes place in the former Rummu quarry and on Rummu Lake. During this exciting trip, the guide will share the history of the area and introduce the beautiful nature of the lake (formerly a quarry). You’ll also learn about the interesting features that can be found at the bottom of the lake today. The trip begins with a gathering at the diving and adventure center. First, we will take a short walk, aimed at climbing to the top of “Ash Hill” (lasting about 45 minutes), after which the participants are introduced to the stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) equipment and briefed on safety rules. The trip lasts a total of up to 2.5 hours.


Price: €45 per participant (The price includes a SUP board set (board + paddle) or a spot in a canoe, a life jacket, guide services, and an entrance fee to the the Rummu quarry private area.

Snorkeling

Price: €50 per participant (The price includes a briefing, snorkeling equipment with wetsuit, guided tour, and entrance fee to Rummu Quarry private area).

Summer Days for Groups

At our venue, we offer the opportunity to organize various events where you can choose and combine different activities: diving, snorkeling, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), canoes, Finnish sauna, hot tub, and catering options.

Sample Program:
11:00-12:00 Arrival, gathering, and hiking tour of the Rummu ash hill area
12:00-13:00 Introduction to water activities
13:00-18:00 Diving, Snorkeling, SUP/Canoeing, Rafting, lunch, saunas
18:00 End of the event

The schedule and program will be tailored to your and our preferences and possibilities! It is possible to extend the visit until late hours.

Depending on the activities, Rummu Diving can accommodate approximately 50 people at a time.
