A Unique Underwater Photo Exhibition Opens This Summer in Rummu: “Underwater journey / Veealune teekond”

Exhibition: Underwater Journey / Veealune teekond
Location: Rummu Quarry, Rummu Diving Dive Center
Open: June 14 – September 28, 2025
Access: By scuba diving or snorkeling

One of the most extraordinary art experiences of this summer takes place underwater: from June 14 to September 28, 2025, an underwater photo exhibition titled “Underwater journey / Veealune teekond” will be open in Rummu Quarry. The exhibition can be experienced by scuba diving or snorkeling directly in the historic waters of the quarry.

“Underwater Journey” is a meeting point of photographic art and the underwater world, guiding the visitor through silence, light, and depth – into a forgotten landscape where nature, history, and humanity intertwine. The exhibition is installed in the underwater area of the Rummu Diving Dive Center (Rummu Quarry / Underwater Prison) and is accessible to certified divers, try divers, and snorkelers. On calm days, some photos may also be seen from watercraft such as SUP boards.

The exhibition features works by Valdur Maibach, an Estonian diver, photographer, karate instructor, and world traveler, captured in different corners of the world between 2016 and 2025. Each photo is a window into a world where time flows differently – serving as both documentary and artistic interpretation of a submerged past and hidden beauty.

“The moment you step into the water, a journey begins into a timeless world. With this exhibition, I want to give the viewer a chance to experience the underwater space not just visually, but physically – through water, movement, and light,” explains the author, Valdur Maibach
